Pixiv had a Pocky during one of their Spotlights back in 2014. Wanting to get in on the festivities, I drew up my mascot Finne eating some Pocky and reading a manga. I had also experimented with drawing freehand lineart on GIMP, trying to get something going without having to rely on the Paths Tool. It worked… but not enough to warrint a complete replacement. I remember saying on DA that I would do it more in the future, however that never happened. That is, until I got CLIP Studio Paint around early Summer of 2016.
